Our mission

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

Psalm 119:105

We pick up our phones more than almost anything else in a day, often before we've said a word to anyone. Most of those glances fill us with noise: messages, headlines, the next thing to do.

Verse Wallpaper began with a simple prayer: that the first thing we see could be God's Word instead.

A lamp in the psalmist's day didn't light up the whole road. It lit the next few steps, enough to walk by. That's what we hope each verse can be for you. A small light for the moment you're in, whether you're waking up, waiting in a queue, or lying awake at 3am. One verse, one glance, one step at a time.

Our goal

To light a million glances a day with Scripture, in the languages people pray in.

Made in South Africa, starting in thirteen languages, and growing as Bibles become available to us.

Questions

Good to know

When can I download it?

Verse Wallpaper is on its way to Google Play for Android phones. Send us a note at the address below and we'll tell you the day it's live.

Is there an iPhone version?

Android comes first. iPhone doesn't allow apps to change the lock screen by themselves, so we're working on the best way to bring it there.

Does it work on Samsung lock screens?

Most Samsung phones only allow live wallpapers on the home screen. The verse still greets you every time you unlock; on other phones choose "Home and lock screens" when you set it.

Can I use the NIV or ESV?

Those translations need licences for apps, which we're working on. In the meantime you can add any verse you love, in any version, as one of your favourites.

Will it use my data or battery?

Verses download once and are kept on your phone. The app only does its work in the moment your screen turns off, ready for the next time you look.

Let the first light you see be His.

“The entrance of thy words giveth light.” Psalm 119:130
