Verse Wallpaper puts a new Bible verse on your lock screen every time you wake your phone, set on your own photos or on quiet scenes from nature.
Free to download. Thirteen languages. Nothing about you leaves your phone.
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
Psalm 119:105 (KJV)A new verse each time you press the power button
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
We pick up our phones more than almost anything else in a day, often before we've said a word to anyone. Most of those glances fill us with noise: messages, headlines, the next thing to do.
Verse Wallpaper began with a simple prayer: that the first thing we see could be God's Word instead.
A lamp in the psalmist's day didn't light up the whole road. It lit the next few steps, enough to walk by. That's what we hope each verse can be for you. A small light for the moment you're in, whether you're waking up, waiting in a queue, or lying awake at 3am. One verse, one glance, one step at a time.
To light a million glances a day with Scripture, in the languages people pray in.
Made in South Africa, starting in thirteen languages, and growing as Bibles become available to us.
English, Afrikaans, isiZulu, isiXhosa, Sesotho, Setswana, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, Hindi, Italian or German. The whole app follows your choice.
Use our thirty nature photos, painted landscapes, or your own pictures. Your family, your garden, the view from your favourite walk.
Every time the screen comes on, a fresh verse is waiting. None repeats until you've seen the whole list.
No subscription and no ads, ever. If you'd like more, one small payment unlocks the rest for good.
Bought through Google Play. Yours on every phone you sign in to.
Verses download once and then work offline, on a plane or in the middle of the Karoo.
The app is fully translated into all thirteen. Verses come from Bibles we're licensed to use in each language; where we're still arranging a licence, verses show in English for now.
You pick photos in Android's own picker. The app never sees the rest of your gallery, and nothing is uploaded.
Your saved verses and settings live on your phone only.
We never see your card. The app only knows whether the upgrade is unlocked.
No accounts, no ads, no analytics. We'd rather you spent the time in the Word.
Verse Wallpaper is on its way to Google Play for Android phones. Send us a note at the address below and we'll tell you the day it's live.
Android comes first. iPhone doesn't allow apps to change the lock screen by themselves, so we're working on the best way to bring it there.
Most Samsung phones only allow live wallpapers on the home screen. The verse still greets you every time you unlock; on other phones choose "Home and lock screens" when you set it.
Those translations need licences for apps, which we're working on. In the meantime you can add any verse you love, in any version, as one of your favourites.
Verses download once and are kept on your phone. The app only does its work in the moment your screen turns off, ready for the next time you look.
